| Well I got to play the Bluebird!
Thank god I contacted Barbara Cloyde, the organiser beforehand though as there were so many people who didn't get to play. It gets so busy that if you don't get to perform the first time you come along you get a second time ticket and there were that many people that no one on their first time got to play except as I said, I'd contacted Barbara earlier and told her I was coming from Australia so it was ok. I have to say as I waited my turn and looked around at all of the famous songwriters faces plastered to the walls I was pretty nervous. Everyone got 2 songs and luckily I was number 5 out of 26. I decided to perform "Don't Hold Hands" and "In Dreams" and although I was a bit nervy, I got a really good reception and lots of good feedback.
Hopefully it won't be too long and you can see the photos.
After the Bluebird we went out to Opryland as Mitchell, kates boyfriend was playing in a party band out there. The Grand Ole Opry was closed for a private function so we walked around the shopping complex, Opry Mills for a while and then went over to the Opryland Hotel.
Well I've never been to Vegas but Trent reckons it wasn't far off the hotels there. You had to keep reminding yourself that you were inside as once you're in the buliding there are gardens and an island in the middle with a little boat that you can ride on. they had an acrobatics show and water show...oh and Mitchell's band was pretty good too!
I'm just sorry we were all so tired from Silverados the night before...not to mention that on our first day in ages that we were able to sleep in, we had to get up to watch the soccer at 7.30am. Actually I only got the second half and I'm glad I did...Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! |
