Jul 21, 2006 - The film fest in the park, and intl food, Cemetery
Yesterday we didn't do much except try to work out flights and accomodation which is how this day started off. Yeah I know pretty exciting!

On the way back from the airport though we stopped at Austria's largest cemetery and strolled around until we found the music section.

It was a bit of a task as we started out on the opposite side of the place and it was stinking hot but we finally found the church and then asked some people if they knew where the Mozart memorial was. Well it was in the very next row and he was not in bad company either. The memorial was nice but it was just a memorial. (Mozart was buried in an unmarked paupers grave because either he died in poverty or because he owed a lot of gambling debts). Around the memorial were the actual grave sites of some of the most brilliant musical minds in history. Ludwig van Beethoven, All the Strausses, Hugo Wolf, and Schubert were all there among others. It was a fairly awe inspiring moment for me as stood there among these great men as they lay decaying beneath my feet. We looked around for a while as I hoped that some of the musical genius might rub off.

Trent took me down to the Rathaus as a surprise where there was a film festival based on the 200th aniversary of Mozart and an international food festival as well. We ate but didn't stay as we decided that we would both probably enjoy the following night much more.
