| Jul 26, 2006 - Nymphenburg Palace, and the worlds biggest Beer Garden
| Today was really cool after a slow start.
We went out to Nymphenburg Palace a few k's NW of the town centre.
This was King Ludgwig I's summer palace.
We arrived there just in time for my thongs to break, so we had to head back home and get shoes on.
We finally made it back an hour later and walked all aroung the Gardens.
These were really beautiful, and we had a nice picnic down by one of the many lakes.
After we'd had a nice look around all of the garden's, and seen some nice buildings we started heading home, stopping at a nice little cafe for a coffee on the way. The waiter was really cool and he told us that we 3mins walk from the biggest beergarden in Munich.
We headed down to the beer garden, called Hirschgarten and was just a big park with hundreds of tables set up to sit at. The only rule being that to sit there you had to buy a beer from one of the dozens of 'Beer Huts' around.
We both had a beer and stayed awhile finishing off our picnic for dinner and enjoying the atmosphere of the garden. It was almost like a little fair, with merry-go-rounds, shooting galleries, swing rides, fairyfloss stalls all around us. |
