Biography
Michelle is a professional country
artist who grew up in the rural NSW town of Mendooran listening
to the vocals of Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins and Jim Reeves.
Although she has experience singing a wide variety of music including
classical and pop, her roots are firmly planted in country music.
Michelle is now based in Sydney NSW, which is a far cry from the
sleepy little town where she grew up and "Michelle is a young
woman with a big future"(Daily Liberal)
Michelle's fans will be happy to know that in 2007 she will begin
recording her debut album, due for release early 2008. Michelle
believes the Album will showcase her talents as a songwriter as
well as her exquisite vocal style that has attracted fans from
all over Australia and overseas. As well as recording, Michelle's
2007 calendar is filling up fast with up coming performances,
including acoustic sessions, solo shows, and appearances at various
music festivals.
Michelle currently performs as a solo artist and as a duo with
the talented backing vocalist, Shona Corbin. She is also looking
forward to performing with her band, which is in the process of
coming together to help realize the full potential of Michelle's
original material and of course to showcase her as the amazing
performer she is.
The 2007 Tamworth Country Music Festival saw Michelle performing
almost everyday of the two weeks she was there. Performances included
her return to the Young Guns of Country concert at Tamworth Town
Hall, several appearances at Coca-Cola Stage in the Hands of Fame
Park, guest artist on the Tomkins Showcase at West's Leagues Club,
guest singer with Tall Timbre at the Fitzroy Tavern, a solo performance
at the Tamworth Arcade, a performance at the Cricket Grounds and,
lots of fun performing with Gleny Rae Virus and her Tamworth Playboys
at the South Gate Inn.
In 2006 Michelle headed overseas for several months.
On the itinerary for her world trip she included Nashville, USA
to coincide with the CMA's FanFare.
While in Nashville she performed at the famous Blue Bird Café,
The Tomkins Showcases at the Sheraton Hotel, The Commodore Sports
Bar and the French Quarter Café.
Also in 2006 Michelle returned to Tamworth, after an absence
of a few years, with a bunch of enthusiasm that came wrapped in
memories of past Tamworth experiences. These included: being involved
with Starmaker and the CMAA College of Country Music, staging
the "Desert Rain Showcases" at the Oasis Hotel, performances and
guest appearances all over Tamworth not to mention all the endless
hours of busking on Peel street during her early years.
All of this has come since Michelle graduated from the Sydney
Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Music Education)
degree. After a turbulent year in 2000, which almost saw the end
of her singing career in a serious car accident, Michelle was
not only a CMAA College graduate and a finalist in Toyota Star
Maker 2001 but she also left her home in the country to begin
studying, and living, in Sydney.
Since completing her studies at the end of 2005, Michelle has
shown that her love of singing and performing country music is
stronger than ever.
During her career Michelle has shared the stage with many great
artists some of those include Gina Jeffreys, Lee Kernaghan, Jody
Maphis (USA), Adam Brand, Beccy Cole, Felicity Urquhart, Stuart
French and the Feral Swing Katz, and the list goes on and on!
Michelle has successfully competed and performed throughout Australia,
New Zealand and the USA, winning the National Capital Country
Music Awards (now known as NSW/ACT Champion of Champions) in 1997,
and continues to give her time freely to community charities as
well.
In 1999, Michelle released her debut EP titled
"That's What I like".
The C.D contains the original track, "That's Why He's Mine" and
also "My Outback" which was co-written with Margaret Bye.
It also contained the old Patsy Cline favorite, "Sweet Dreams".
The CD received nation-wide airplay on country radio stations
and certainly for a country girl from Mendooran one could ask
what more could she hope to achieve.
However with her debut album on the way and performances booked
in across the state, Michelle says this is just the beginning!
Michelle Little is a, "a young artist who will make it to the
top!"(Leo Dekroo, Radio 2DU)
