Tamworth 2006
Wow, Tamworth 2006 was just amazing!!!
Even though we were sweltering in our tent most nights and when
we weren't, we were rained out, it was GREAT!
I started off at the CMAA Young Guns of Country concert on Wednesday
the 18th, just before the festival officially started. It was great
to get up and sing with a band for the first time in 2 years, and
thanks to everyone who came along and saw the show. I saw some faces
I hadn't seen in quite a while.
Thanks also to Stavros from Narnia Books on Peel St who gave me
a spot to busk most mornings of the festival, can't wait to get
back out there next year.
On Sunday 22nd, and Friday 27th, I was up on Coca-Cola stage, again
with a band behind me. That was lots of fun and I got to let loose
a little. There's some photos I've got that you can see in the Photo's
section if you are interested.
Lindsay Butler Studios was nice, I played there by myself on Wednesday
25th, and again with backing on Saturday 28th. Thanks to Charmaine
Pout who invited me along to sing. Thanks also to those people at
the back of the auditorium who wanted more... maybe next time :)
Apart from all that, Trent and I just had fun catching ALL the shows
we could fit into the schedule. Seeing Red Volkaert play (Merle
Haggard's guitarist) was great. Adam Harvey and Troy Cassar-Daley
got up to do a duo as well at Stuie French's pickers night which
was pretty cool. Tomkin's guitar showcase was amazing as well...
those guitars are awesome... Santa knows what I want for Chrissie
next year!
It was my first Tamworth in 3 years and I hadn't missed one in 7
years before that so it certainly was great to be back in the swing...western
swing that is! Thank you to all those who came along and listened
during Tamworth 2006 and I hope to see you again next year.
We've already got some big plans
in motion for Tamworth 2007.
